In the lead up to Christmas, streets all around Australia light up their houses with dazzling displays to help spread Christmas cheer.

For the second year running Ashleigh and The Gables community are hosting a festive fundraiser lighting-up their estate to raise awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer Australia ‘Shining a Christmas Light on Bowel Cancer’.

“Overall, it was a hugely successful event last year, it was beautiful to see the entire community come out and support such a great cause. I had so many people come and talk to me about their own family bowel cancer stories, and they were very thankful for the event we had put on.

Our daily bowel cancer facts also sparked a lot of conversation around bowel cancer which is exactly what we wanted it to do! I have a background in bowel and pancreatic cancer research, so I definitely understand the importance of eliminating the stigma surrounding the disease.

We set out to raise $2000 and we far exceeded that thanks to the generosity of the community as well as the local businesses that got involved. The show bag van (showbags and things) and coffee cart (Rocky Mountain coffee), both local businesses, donated a proportion of their profits to the cause, as well as the developer of our estate (Stockland) which was a huge help.

It was also beautiful to see all the love and support for the Kwan family, who were the reason we put this on in the first place.

We hope to raise a lot more money this coming Sunday 18th at our event! ” ~ Ashleigh
