Double Bay Day Hospital participated in raising funds for Bowel Cancer Australia and awareness of the widespread nature of bowel cancer in our society for the charity’s annual Red Apple Day.

Being a three theatre Day Hospital with two theatres solely designed for diagnostic endoscopy, the organisation is well aware of the increasing incidence of bowel cancer in our community.

“Selling ribbons alone is the door opener to start larger conversations with ordinary people. It gives them the opportunity to tell their stories of family and friends who are affected by a cancer that is treatable if caught early enough,” said Managing Director Chris Kourt.

“Although participating in Bowel Cancer Awareness Month is beneficial to our business, it is more valuable to start engaging in positive conversations that can be life-changing for people in our community,” he added

Double Bay staff and surgeons raised more than $1,000 through their Red Apple Day event, for which we greatly appreciate their support.

“We happily plan to do the same event again next year for such great cause. Keep up the good work Bowel Cancer Australia,” said Mr Kourt.
