Cheran takes part in the Bridge to Brisbane every year, but she wanted to do something a bit differently for her latest marathon. Choosing to run for a cause this year, and what better charity than Bowel Cancer Australia.

“As a clinical nurse on a colorectal ward I see on a daily basis the effects that bowel cancer has on patients and their loved ones, not only that, how it effects young and old alike. As such I am very passionate about all things prevention, diagnosis and treatment!” said Cheran.

“Most people that I have spoken to about the fundraiser either know someone or have had a loved one affected by bowel cancer. To make discussions of bowels less of a taboo I put up flyers and used social media platforms.”

“As a result of this, and alongside the generous support of colleagues, friends and family I was able to reach my goal! Keep up the great work Bowel Cancer Australia,” Cheran added.

If you were inspired by Cheran's story and would like to take part in a sporting challenge as a fun way to raise awareness that you're never too young to have bowel cancer and much needed funds for Bowel Cancer Australia, check out our Events and Activities Calendar or get in touch with us on 02 9923 8269 or through our webform.
