Long-time supporter Hollie hosted her much-looked-forward to ‘Back to Stool’ trivia night.

This year’s event celebrated the memory of her friend, and fellow bowel cancer Awareness Advocate, Gemma who passed away from bowel cancer in 2018 at the age of 29.

Gemma and Hollie became friends through Bowel Cancer Australia’s Peer-to-Peer Support network, and passionately raised awareness that you’re never too young to have bowel cancer.

Hollie decided to host a trivia night to raise more awareness on bowel cancer in her local community on the NSW Central Coast.

“I’m trying to put bowel cancer on the radar. I feel like people get embarrassed talking about it and consider it an older person’s disease, but if it’s caught early it’s treatable.”

The trivia night was a great way to get people talking about bowel cancer and plant the seed in people’s minds to listen to their body and never sit on their symptoms.

“Only you know your body and if you think something is not right be persistent. Don't sit on your symptoms. Early detection is the best protection.”

The night raised a fantastic $2872 for Bowel Cancer Australia and raised lots of awareness too.
