Apple Oat Slice lactose free Apple themed Breakfast / Brunch Snacks / Drinks All Apple themed Breakfast / Brunch Dessert Dinner Lunch Snacks / Drinks Soups / Sides / Sauces Summary Apple oat slice using high fibre ingredients Cooking Time: 40 Total Time: 40 Quantity: 20 High fibre Ingredients Filling: 6 green apples peeled, diced 2 Tbsp stevia 3 tsp true cinnamon powder 60gm butter ----- Crumble base and topping: 2 cups of wholemeal self-raising flour 1 cup whole rolled oats ½ cup slithered almonds ½ cup stevia 120gm butter melted Method Line a standard slice tray with baking paper Pre heat oven to 180C ----- Filling: Peel, core and finely dice the apples to approximately the same size. Combine the stevia and cinnamon. Dust this mixture over the diced apples. Heat a large saucepan add the apples, butter and vanilla. Continue to stir the apples for 3-5 minutes until slightly soft but not mushy. Drain any excess liquid from the apples and set aside to cool. ----- Crumble: Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add the melted butter and mix well. Using half of the mixture only. Press evenly and firmly into the base of the tray. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes. ----- Assemble: Place the apple mixture over the cooled base. Spread evenly. Now add the remaining crumble mixture and spread evenly over the apples. Gently press into place. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown. Allow time to cool in the tray. Cut in the tray. Store in an airtight container. May be frozen. Eat with yoghurt or cream for breakfast or afternoon tea.
