The Edge Gymnastics organised a fundraiser by having a donation box at their front desk for their members to make a donation or purchase a Bowel Cancer Awareness Ribbon to show their support for Bowel Cancer Australia. All their staff wore the Bowel Cancer Awareness Ribbons for the whole month of June, which is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. They also had a bowl of red apples for members to enjoy at the desk on Red Apple Day, Bowel Cancer Australia’s Annual Giving Day. The core of this fundraiser, however, is because the Edge team lost a team member to bowel cancer in 2022.

This is what Kate Short, the fundraising organiser, has to say: “We had a great month raising awareness during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. All our staff wore badges for the entirety of the month. A donation box was displayed at the front desk, with many families and community members contributing and purchasing badges. We also celebrated Red Apple Day with our members enjoying a red apple after class and a bowl of apples in the foyer for families to enjoy whilst watching their child.

$600 in total was raised.

This is a very important cause for the Edge family, as we sadly lost one of our team members to the disease in 2022.

We look forward to working with you again next year and hope to beat our raised totals this year!” ~ Kate.

Thank you so much, Kate, for sending and sharing your story with us and for your important support in memory of your team member.

Your awareness and fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated and will have a direct impact, helping to save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of people living with bowel cancer.
