Willis & Dennis P, Hike for Health All Supporters in Action “I did the trek for my wife Natalie, who has gone through so much and inspired me to keep walking and give back as much as I can to Bowel Cancer Australia. Late last year our family became one of the many families in Australia to be impacted by bowel cancer, when Natalie was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer at the age of 39. Nat had minimal symptoms, was young and otherwise healthy, living the usual busy life of a mum of two school-aged boys and a busy new role in HR. But after an admission to ED with suspected appendicitis and multiple emergency surgeries, including a bowel resection and full hysterectomy, it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to her ovaries, liver and bones. We have all benefited enormously from the compassion, depth of knowledge and unwavering support from Bowel Cancer Australia. They have provided enormous practical advice and guidance on navigating the world of bowel cancer, including nutrition advice and advice on managing side effects, and facilitating a community for patients and their families. Why is this so important to us? Of course, we are doing this for Natalie and to support the incredible work of Bowel Cancer Australia. But we also want to raise awareness about this disease – which most people don’t know much about – and in particular, its growing prevalence in younger Australians.” ~ Willis (& Dennis). A very big thank you and congratulations to Willis and Dennis, who trekked 50km at 3,500m altitudes through Nepal’s Annapurna region in October 2024 for the Hike For Health.
