“Four days before I ran my first marathon in Sydney last year, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer when I was just 21 years old. During the race I was incredibly emotional – it became something far bigger than just running and completely changed my perspective. My parents had to leave their jobs and our lives shifted overnight, and I felt helpless watching everything unfold.

I decided to run the Noosa Marathon to support my dad’s battle and turn that feeling into something positive. I actually got into running because of my dad – it was something we bonded over, and he has always inspired me through the fitness challenges he takes on. Fundraising for Bowel Cancer Australia gives my run a deeper purpose, helping raise awareness and support for families going through similar experiences.

My goal was to raise $5,000, and we’ve already surpassed that target. As race day approaches, I’m hoping to continue raising funds and awareness to help make a difference for others facing bowel cancer.” ~ Mia
