“Sisters Jo, Robyn, and Ruth banded together to run an art and craft stall at Oak Hill Gallery in Mornington to raise funds for early-onset bowel cancer research. This was in honour of the legacy of Jo’s daughter, EJ Hassan, and Robyn’s husband, Dr. Samuel Blaikie, both of whom died of metastatic bowel cancer – EJ in September 2024 at age 42, and Sam in June 2004 at age 44.

EJ and Sam were shining lights in their family and community. EJ was an outstanding teacher and photographer, and Sam was a dedicated and highly regarded Doctor of Agricultural Science.

We mourn their loss deeply and want to advocate on their behalf for improved health outcomes for all young people fighting and suffering from this shocking disease. You are never too young for bowel cancer.” ~ Jo

Warmest thanks for your support, Jo, Robyn, and Ruth. This is such a beautiful way to honour the memory and legacy of both EJ and Sam. Your support means so much and will have a direct and lasting impact—helping us champion what matters most to people impacted by bowel cancer and empowering everyone affected to live their best life.
