Adam W, Rottnest Channel Swim – TALC In Memory Loved One All Be Bold Bowel Cancer Awareness Month Community Company Decembeard Dry July Early-Onset In Memory Loved One Never 2 Young World Cancer Day “The swim started with a simple idea—my 16-year-old daughter, Carmen, and her 14-year-old friend, Luca, wanted to take on the challenge alongside their dads (myself and Tony). Tony and I had both completed several swims, including solo crossings, so it felt like a natural but exciting goal. The event took on a much deeper meaning when we lost a dear friend, Suvas, late last year after a long battle with bowel cancer. Suvas faced his illness with extraordinary grace, courage, and strength, always surrounded by the love of his family. His three teenage children continue to carry his warmth, kindness, and resilience, a testament to the remarkable legacy he left behind. Swimming in Suvas’s honour gave us a way to celebrate his life and contribute to a cause that could help other families facing this devastating disease. Of the seven Rottnest crossings I’ve completed, this one was by far the most special, doing it alongside my daughter and friends, watching her overcome her fears and grow in confidence, all while keeping Suvas in our thoughts. We ended up raising $5,218 for Bowel Cancer Australia, but more importantly, we hope we’ve helped raise awareness in the long run.” ~ AdamWarmest thanks and congratulations, Carmen, Luca, Tony and Adam.
