“I chose to fundraise for Bowel Cancer Australia because I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in early January, after receiving a positive result from a home test kit in late 2024. A blood test showed I was low in iron, and I had colonoscopy on January 6 and a CT scan the next day. I had a stage one tumour in my colon which required hemicolectomy surgery. No chemo or other treatment, and it hadn’t spread. My recovery was difficult. What should have been a 5-7 day stay in hospital turned into 31 days. I am doing well now, although it has been tough. I urge everyone to do the home test kit without delay when they receive it. It saved my life.” ~ John
