“In August 2024, my mum passed away suddenly at the age of 70. The cause was bowel cancer, and it was fast, silent and devastating to our small, tight knit family. Within 5 weeks of her Stage 4 diagnosis, we lost her.

A year on, I created STORM70 (#STORM70) which is a run / walk challenge that ranges between 5km to 70km to honour her life and raise funds and awareness for Bowel Cancer Australia.

I was shocked to know that Australia has the highest global rates of early onset bowel cancer for ages 25 – 44 year olds. Not just alarming, but simply unacceptable and we need to fight back.

Whether you’re ready to challenge yourself physically, stand with us in solidarity, or simply donate, you’re helping shine a light on a silent killer that’s taken too many, too soon.

Let’s walk. Let’s run. Let’s fight to end bowel cancer. We need to end this silent killer!” ~ Richard and Family
