Jacinta and staff at Bendigo Health successfully held a stall in the hospital atrium to raise awareness about bowel cancer and fundraise for Bowel Cancer Australia during the Red Apple Day Annual Giving Day!

Here’s what Jacinta has to say about their fundraiser:

“Bendigo Health staff joined together to raise awareness of bowel cancer on Red Apple Day, Bowel Cance Australia’s Annual Giving Day. Nursing staff from the theatre, stomal therapy, and patient services all joined together with surgeons Angus Lee and Dilshad Dooreemeah to create a fun day and allow staff to have open discussions. The Bendigo Health Foundation donated Bowel Screening kits for younger staff who wish to test. It was a very successful day and created lots of discussion with staff and patients.

We were able to get heaps of representation on all Bendigo Health Socials, plus we got a story in the Pulse newsletter, which was also picked up by the Bendigo Advertiser.

I know we were all about healthy eating and apples, so we got a huge cake made in the shape of an apple and a bowel too, just to make it fun and get people’s attention, allowing them to start talking.

You can check out these posts on Instagram at #Bendigohealthfoundation, BendigoHealth on Facebook, and I have attached the story link below as well.

We have also been allocated to have Bowel Cancer Awareness running on our e-poster board in the main atrium all year, so we are very pleased that we can create awareness all year round.

Look out, next year we’re going to make it more fun.” ~ Jacinta.

Thank you very much, Jacinta, for sharing your delightful story! Thank you to all who participated, all the staff from the different areas of Bendigo Health, and your special supporters for making your awareness and fundraising affair a truly successful one! Thank you for supporting Bowel Cancer Australia.
