“Ben had the perfect life: a loving wife, Emily, and sons, Hugo, 7, and Oliver, 2. He was close to his own family as well as Emily’s, having been partners in crime since the early age of 18. Ben built a wonderful life with Emily and their boys, a career he loved, the life of the party, loved rock music, committed to his workouts at the gym, and had a large group of friends.

In May 2021, at just 33 years of age, Ben was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.

Our Bowl for BEN team was established by Alaina, Steph, Sarah, Kelly, Kristy, and Brie. We had all known and loved Ben and Emily for varying lengths of time. We wanted to do something to show our support to their families. We wanted to support Bowel Cancer Australia and make a difference.

Our fundraising efforts spread, and truly amazed by everyone, who generously donated prizes to us. In June 2024, we held our fundraising event at Salisbury Bowland, with an attendance of about 200 people.

Together, we raised $12,260 for Bowel Cancer Australia in honour of Ben, a young husband, father, son, brother, family member, amazing friend, workout buddy, and colleague to so many who is forever missed by all.

With the knowledge that you are #nevertooyoung, we hope that Ben’s legacy and our efforts can help Bowel Cancer Australia educate and support other families in the fight against this awful disease.” ~ Alaina and Sarah.

Thank you so much, Alaina and Sarah, for sharing your powerful story with us, for your invaluable support, and for being there for Ben’s family.

Your awareness and fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated and will have a direct impact, helping to save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of people living with bowel cancer.
