I had no symptoms. I did the test which came in the mail with a positive result.

What followed was a operation to lower end of my rectum, an ileostomy which meant I needed to use a stoma for 11 months, and six months of chemo via an implanted port in my left shoulder.

All of this was extremely confronting.

My small intestine reconnected in November 2025 and a slow process of daily wound packing for the site to heal from the inside to the surface.

My one piece of advice:

Perform the test that comes in the mail.
