Ella S – Sydney Marathon

“In January 2025, five months pregnant with our second child and living in India, my husband went in for a colonoscopy. He came out with a Stage 4 bowel cancer diagnosis, treatable, but incurable. A rushed flight home followed by ongoing treatment: 40 rounds of chemo to date, 30 rounds of radiation.

So, I ran the Sydney Marathon for Bowel Cancer Australia to raise awareness of early-onset bowel cancer, one of the few cancers where mortality is rising and often caught late. More people are being diagnosed every day, and I wanted to stand behind the care they need. My husband is one of them.
