“My dear friend Mos was diagnosed with rectal cancer around the same time that I was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer (at the age of 42) – as awful as it is, it has been helpful to be able to debrief about symptoms and side effects together.

Mos’ beautiful 7-year-old granddaughter, Elsie, wanted to do something to help her beloved granddad ‘Bumpy’, and our family, so she created an amazing fundraiser, Elsie’s Colour for Cancer, to assist us and raise money for our local cancer support group and Bowel Cancer Australia.

We were overwhelmed by the support of our very generous Kangaroo Island community – it was a very special day, with Elsie colouring her hair and everyone dancing and laughing as we were covered in colour powder. We are so pleased to have been able to give back to the organisations that are helping us through this challenging time.” ~ Emma (on behalf of Elsie).

If you were inspired by Elsie’s awareness and fundraising efforts and would like to support Bowel Cancer Australia through your own community fundraiser, please get in touch with us through our webform.
