Beyond the Bow Tie. Kununurra Black Tie Charity Gala 2024. A fundraiser was inspired by Liza Mann, a wife and mother of two beautiful girls who was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 36. This is a story of how a community was touched by Liza’s story and rallied behind her to give her the support she needed. This shows that community is where the big heart is, no matter how small they may be.

This is their story:
“We started the Kununurra Black Tie Charity Gala to bring our community together for causes that truly matter. Seeing the impact of bowel and GI cancers on our friends and local families really fuelled our passion to create this event to spread awareness and support Bowel Cancer Australia and the GI Cancer Institute. These organisations are doing incredible work, and through this event, we wanted to try to make a real difference by sharing some signs and symptoms that everyone should look out for and empowering people to advocate for their own health while also raising funds to fight these diseases. On the night, Kununurra came together to celebrate life and showed that even a small community can have a big impact!” ~ Denise and Brooke.

Thank you so much, Denise and Brooke, for sending and sharing your powerful story with us, for your invaluable support, and for lending a hand and support to Liza Mann.

Your awareness and fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated and will have a direct impact, helping to save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of people living with bowel cancer.
