To say that I was shocked when I received my bowel cancer diagnosis three years ago is an understatement.  I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer that had spread to my liver and lung.

I was scared and angry and couldn’t believe this was happening to ME!

Our little brother Sam was diagnosed with bowel cancer on Christmas Eve 2018. He had a short battle of nearly seven weeks and passed away February 2019.

I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in September 2012, aged 47.

I was relatively fit and not overweight. In fact, as I was being prepped for what was to be my first gastroscopy, I was told I was a bean pole (that made me laugh).

I had a very good diet, didn’t smoke, and I drank maybe a glass of alcohol a day. But I was just feeling “tired” and I have never felt tired before.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer at 44 years old in late 2015.

To be honest, getting sick was definitely not on my radar.
