3 Very Quick Valentine's treats (for those who forgot the date!)

Open Heart Pretzels (low fibre)

Less than 1 gram of fibre per pretzel (Make as many serves as you require)

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of pretzels
  • 100 grams of dark chocolate
  • Red sprinkles

Method

  1. Lay out a sheet of baking paper on a cool surface
  2. Gently heat chocolate in a Pyrex bowl sitting in a saucepan with 10cms of water, gently heat the water to a bubbling simmer, add the chocolate to the Pyrex bowl and stir the chocolate frequently until it is melted and turn the heat off
  3. Dip one side of the pretzel in chocolate and add a liberal shake of sprinkles immediately so they stick, lay on the baking paper
  4. Repeat until you have the required amount
  5. Let cool and cover until they are ready to serve (0-4 hours)

Love You A Trifle (high fibre)

Approx. 2-4 grams of fibre per serve

Ingredients

  • Two long drink glasses
  • Four tablespoons of high fibre toasted muesli
  • Punnet of strawberries or raspberries
  • 2 tubs of vanilla yoghurt
  • 1 tub of ready-made chocolate mousse

Method

  1. Add one tablespoon of high fibre toasted muesli to each glass
  2. Layer four tablespoons of vanilla yoghurt into each glass
  3. Followed by a layer of fresh berries
  4. Followed by two tablespoons of chocolate mouse
  5. Repeat until glass full or ingredients finished
  6. Top with remaining berries and shaved dark chocolate

Love You A Trifle (low fibre)

Approx. 0-1 grams of fibre per serve (use pre made red jelly instead of berries for ostomates)

Ingredients

  • Two long drink glasses
  • Four tablespoons of crushed plain amoretti biscuits
  • 1 cup of red jelly mashed into chunks
  • 2 tubs of vanilla yoghurt
  • 1 tub of ready-made chocolate mousse
  • Dark chocolate shavings for topping

Method

  1. Add one tablespoon of crushed amoretti biscuit in to each glass
  2. Layer four tablespoons of vanilla yoghurt into each glass
  3. Followed by a layer of jelly
  4. Followed by two tablespoons of chocolate mouse
  5. Repeat until glass full or ingredients finished
  6. Top with remaining jelly and shaved dark chocolate

Sweetheart Pavlova (low fibre)

0-1 gram of fibre per serve (Makes 6 serves)


Ingredients

  • Packet of premade mini pavlova’s (usually six in a pack from the supermarkets)
  • 6 small milk or dark chocolate hearts
  • Strawberry coulis (strain for ostomates)
  • Whipped cream

Method

  1. Place the pavlova’s on a decorative tray
  2. Top each pavlova with whipped cream
  3. Drizzle strawberry coulis over each pavlova
  4. Press a chocolate heart on top
