At the age of 29, shortly after the birth of my third child, I knew something was not right.

I was brushed off by doctor after doctor, most stating I was too young for it to be anything serious, change my diet or try these antibiotics.

Not even a CT scan picked anything up. It was only after I ended up in emergency because of severe pains that a specialist got me in for an immediate colonoscopy.

That’s when I woke up to the words, ‘We have found a tumor’.

My world changed from that moment.

I had surgery to remove the 5cm tumour which had also spread to my lymph nodes. I also had to undergo six months of chemo.

Fast forward eight years later and I kicked cancer’s ass.

I now have a whole new outlook on life. I have also gone on to have an additional two children, even though they told me the chemo would send me into early menopause.

I am eternally grateful for life after cancer.

My biggest word of advice is - never ignore the signs.
