Maria knows all too well that bowel cancer is not just an old person's disease.

"I had bowel cancer at the age of 38 in 2013. I want to raise awareness that the disease it not an old person's disease. I also want the research to continue so my children are able to have more advanced screen given they are now at a high risk," Maria said.

Maria recently organised an afternoon tea for her family and friends. Bowel Cancer Awareness Ribbons were handed out to all attendees and a raffle ran throughout the day. Thanks to the generosity of Maria's family and friends, a total of $1,070 was raised for Bowel Cancer Australia. Thank you to Maria for your support – you did an amazing job.
