Spooky Sausage Mummies (24 )
Fun fact: mustard seeds come from the same family of vegetables as broccoli and cabbage and have similar health benefits.
|2 sheets puff pastry (cut into ‘bandage’ strips approximately 4-5 mm wide)|
|sausages of your choice*|
|extra virgin olive oil|
|thick yellow mustard or tomato sauce for eyes|
Spooky Sausage Mummies Directions
Heat oven to 180C.
Line a baking tray with baking paper brushed with olive oil.
Place sausages in a row preferably not touching each other.
Brush with olive oil & bake for 10 minutes.
Take out of the oven and let cool.
‘Bandage’ the top of each sausage for the mummy head.
Leave a 4cm gap for the face/eyes.
Wrap pastry strips around each sausage unevenly and bake until the pastry is puffed, golden and crisp.
Lay the mummies on a serving plate, let cool and add yellow or red sauce eyes to serve.
* Makes as many sausage mummies as you desire. Check sausage label for fibre content – generally meat versions have little to no fibre
