Get Your Rear in Gear
Bowel cancer is Australia's second biggest cancer killer and affects 1 in 12 Australians in their lifetime. So chances are that you, or someone you know, will be affected in some way by the disease.
Despite being one of the most preventable cancers, bowel cancer is something people don't like to talk about; it's a conversation killer.
Bowel Cancer Australia has a mission to reduce the impact of this potentially deadly disease. Achieving this goal involves educating companies, organisations and community groups.
Free Bowel Cancer Presentations
Bowel Cancer Australia has been supporting companies, organisations and community groups - big and small - raise awareness about bowel cancer among their employees and members all over the country for more than 10 years.
Since 2002, the Rear in Gear program has been taking vital information about the disease direct to company employees, organisations and community group members in their place of work.
Bowel Cancer Australia's Big Bowel
Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open, because one of the most unusual, fun and interesting educational exhibits is about to make an appearance at a location near you!
Bowel Cancer Australia's Big Bowel is on the road.
An astounding 7.0 metres in length and 2.4 metres high, the walk through inflatable Big Bowels exhibition feature some of the pathologies that may be found inside the human colon, including bowel cancer.
A little help can go a long way and Bowel Cancer Australia is pleased to be able to offer support to organisations and community groups who can assist us by hosting a bowel cancer awareness or education event.
These events can be very effective in communicating potentially life-saving facts about bowel cancer, including symptoms to look out for, and easy steps people can take to help protect themselves against the disease.
Free Workplace Toolkit
To celebrate more than a decade of being in the Aussie workforce, we've revamped our Workplace Toolkit - bowel cancer resources to help those employers who are committed to the health and wellbeing of their employees.
The Rear in Gear Toolkit includes practical information, tips and resources for raising awareness of bowel cancer within the workplace setting and encouraging healthy behaviours, including participation in bowel cancer screening.
Corporate Bowel Cancer Screening
Bowe Cancer Australia's Screen For Life program educates organisations and employers about the importance of taking appropriate practical action towards prevention and early detection of bowel cancer. The program uses an Australian designed and manufactured test kit known as Colovantage® which is clinically proven, sensitive and reliable.
The simple and accurate test can be completed by your employees at home.
Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in Australia (after lung cancer) and while it kills more Australians each year than breast or prostate cancer, early detection through screening can improve survival rates.
BowelScreen Australia® was launched nationally in 2010 as a collaboration between Bowel Cancer Australia and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, making bowel screening more accessible through community pharmacies across Australia.
Don't Sit On Your Symptoms
Millions of patients visiting GP surgeries and health clinics around the country will have the opportunity to learn how to recognise the symptoms of bowel cancer with our brochure Don't Sit on Your Symptoms.
It is available in patient information boards in thousands of doctors' waiting rooms from Perth to Sydney and from Geelong to the Gold Coast.
Bowel Cancer Australia chief executive Mr Julien Wiggins said GP waiting rooms were an ideal location to reinforce bowel cancer awareness and start a conversation with your doctor.
