Bowel Cancer Australia is excited to announce the newest addition to our list of enthusiastic company supporters – Australian owned undergarment brand Tuffys & Tuffetts™.

It doesn't take a large stretch to see why bowel cancer and underpants make a great partnership, but the great possibilities it provides for Superheroes and ordinary citizens alike is certainly only limited by one's imagination.

Whether your preference is to wear your undies on the outside or not, the new partnership promises fresh ideas and some pretty fun bowel cancer awareness and fundraising activities.

It's National Water Week (20 - 26 October) and Bowel Cancer Australia is proud to join with Yarra Valley Water's 'Choose Tap' program to help raise awareness of the benefits of drinking water, particularly when it comes to maintaining a healthy bowel.

Are you breathing? Hoping that was yes! You are already losing water; every chemical process in our bodies requires water, regulating your temperature, evacuating wastes through perspiring and toilet habits, and even digesting food!

Water is in most foods and in the liquid we consume, however some liquid may cause us to loose water such as alcohol and caffeinate drinks as these are diuretic (encourage the loss of water) from our kidneys.

It's becoming harder and harder to find independently owned, rapidly-growing, successful companies with over 50 employees on the Sunshine Coast. Let alone ones with founders who have a genuine altruistic concern for human welfare.

That's where Ausfit's People First comes in. Ausfit's primary business is to provide secure payment services and support for a CRM business tool for the Health and Fitness Industry across Australia and New Zealand.

Some of the charities that People First has been involved with to date, include: St Vinnies, The Hunger Project, Starlight Foundation, Guide Dogs Victoria and Bowel Cancer Australia to name a few.

Around the country, hundreds of thousands of apples each week are now contributing to bowel cancer awareness through the support of a new apple packing facility in Tynong, Victoria.

Apple packaging from the 9 Mile Fresh facility, which was officially opened on Friday 8th August by Victoria's Deputy Premier the Hon. Peter Ryan MP, will proudly boast the Bowel Cancer Australia logo.

Bowel Cancer Australia community engagement manager Ms Claire Annear said the support from 9 Mile Fresh had developed from an existing relationship with industry group Aussie Apples.

"We've been very fortunate to have had the support of the apple industry for a number of years. It's a partnership that is consistent with our apple logo as well as our advice about the importance of a healthy diet to reduce the risk of bowel cancer."

The Medical Imaging Australia staff and patients were enthusiastic and generous in their support of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

From decorating their reception areas, to selling apples, organising raffles and hosting a fundraising morning tea, the lower floor of John Fawkner Hospital was plastered top to bottom with all things bowel cancer awareness in the final week of June.
