Bowel Cancer Australia has developed a very practical tip sheet to help patients make the most of their medical appointments.
Dealing with doctors can be particularly daunting when faced with a potentially life-threatening disease.
It’s easy to get flustered or forgetful during the appointment itself and very frustrating when you get home and then remember what you wanted to ask! Sometimes you won’t even know what questions might be useful.
What I need to Ask provides lists of suggested questions to ask the doctor at those really important appointments. They include consultations around:
- a diagnosis of bowel cancer;
- obtaining a second opinion;
- before and after surgery; and
- chemotherapy and other medical treatments.
